No. BotPnL never places orders and never touches your funds. It is a journal and analytics tool: it reads your completed trades and shows you what actually happened — realised PnL, fees, funding, win rate, drawdown.
The exchange API keys you connect are read-only, and the app refuses to save a key that has trading or withdrawal permission.
Binance, Bybit, OKX, Bitget, KuCoin, Gate.io and MEXC connect with a read-only API key. Hyperliquid needs no key at all — you paste your wallet address and the public chain data does the rest.
Anything else can come in through CSV import: upload the export file from your exchange or bot and the columns are matched automatically.
It cannot. A read-only key has no withdrawal or trading endpoint available to it — this is enforced by the exchange, not by us.
Keys are stored encrypted on the server and are never shown again after you save them, not even to you.
BotPnL looks at the shape of your activity — night-time trading, repeated identical sizes, very short holds, clockwork regularity — and labels each position as likely bot or likely manual.
This lets you answer the question most journals cannot: is my bot actually beating the trades I place by hand?
Yes, and this is deliberate. A perpetual futures position can look profitable on price alone and still be a loss once funding is paid.
